Big Update - KiwiGameStarter 2016 Result and Next Step

Hi all,

It's been a busy few weeks as of late, and now that it's has settled, time to update on what's been going on with Ten Thousand Coins:

The Kiwi Game Starter submission results were announced on 29th August, and Ten Thousand Coins managed to make it into the finalists out of 30 entrants! Ten Thousand Coins were in two different prize streams: the funding stream and the scholarship stream.

After preparing for the presentation, the pitch was held at AUT on the 7th of September. Met with the other finalists there who were all very talented, so I knew the competition was going to be tough.

Results were announced at NZGDC 2016, and Ten Thousand Coins won a scholarship award! The other winners were Grabity (1st) and Goblins of Elderstone (2nd) for the funding stream, and Caves for the other scholarship award.

Ten Thousand Coins was also showcased and play-tested at NZGDC. The feedback received has been a big help.

Ten Thousand Coins will resume development next week. The next milestone is preparing the game for crowdfunding. Currently looking into Square Enix Collective for crowdfunding support, which means the game will need to reach to the state of a polished demo, with the demo also being distributed online to create more play-testing and build a fan-base.
