New World Map and Wilderness Section

The world map art has been updated, now in colour and more detailed. The settlement icons have also been updated.

A new section of wilderness has been added between the settlements Bouch's Retreat and Warkin Keep. It is an extension of the wilderness Lone Impel, with the same types of wilderness encounters.

The previous settlement Imperium Academy has been replaced with Warkin Keep, as it was more appropriate for the location.

Minimap UI has been updated to reflect the change as well.

Warkin Keep

The new settlement has updated environment and character art for its residence.

The item on offer at Warkin Keep has been reworked from the old settlement, so new items have been created.

Combat VFX

New combat vfx has been added, including screen-shake on enemy attack, and enemy glow when attacked.

New Character Art

New character art for a story character. As with all character art, they are still WIP until final release.

Event - Kiwi Game Starter 2017 and NZGDC17

Ten Thousand Coins was a finalist in Kiwi Game Starter 2017, a competition to help fund kiwi game development startups. The finalist pitch and result was announced at the NZGDC17 event in early September.

The winners were Caves by Matthew Gatland for first prize, and Sky Noon by Lunar Rooster for runner-up. Ten Thousand Coins unfortunately did not win any prize in the competition. Nevertheless, the experience was helpful in the development process, as all the feedback received will influence the future development of the game.

Ten Thousand Coins was showcased at the NZGDC17 Bean Bag-End event. Thank you to the organisers of this event!

End of Pre-alpha

Ten Thousand Coins has finally finished pre-alpha development phase as of v0.4.4. It's been a long year since vertical slice v0.1.0, and the biggest gameplay changes so far have been made in this phase. Now as we enter alpha development, more focus will be put on developing new content while finalising game mechanics according to feedback.

v0.5.0 alpha is now in development, so stay tuned for more development news!
