Design Updates
Between October 2018 to January 2019, there was a slowdown in development due to contract work and the holiday season.
During this period, I took some time to go over results from previous playtesting sessions all throughout 2018 up till Armageddon. It was obvious that certain design changes that needed to be made in various areas systems in the game to optimise the gameplay experience.
Some of these changes include:
- Wilderness - Redesign the wilderness battle encounter rate from fully random to controlled random, allowing better pacing between combat sessions,
- Upgrade - Separate the upgrades into different categories, and change the upgrades themselves to have a better impact on the gameplay.
- Convoy - Create a system of randomly generated convoys, each with their own strengths and weaknesses, to add variety to the convoys you hire.
- Day Events - Events that correspond more to wilderness events, as well as having a bigger effect on trading strategy.
- Settlement - minor unique features and building exclusivity to make each settlement stand out more rather than a copy and paste of each other in terms of gameplay.
- Repair - adjust repair to more items to be used, while not being able to repair at all times.
These changes have been implemented and will be further tested upon in the upcoming Ten Thousand Coins v0.7.0 in our Closed Alpha tests.

Narrative Updates
Different scripts have been written for Ten Thousand Coins, and through playtesting and feedback, adjustments have been made.
The story and dialog in the upcoming v0.7.x builds will be different from that of previous builds, and perhaps slightly different from each other as well to further refine the narrative direction and choices of words for the final release.
