Code/Art Update - Currency and Navigation System & UI
Hey there, I am finally back! Some more progress made on Ten Thousand Coins:
Currency System
After working on some economy and item design for the game, I came to the realization that 10,000 coins isn't a lot of currency as the final goal with 1 gold as the minimum value. To keep the game name intact and balance out the currency system, I decided to add a fractional currency silver coins, which essentially is the "cent" to the "dollar", adding two more zeros to work with, changing the minimum value to 0.01 gold. UI art, code, as well as the NPC shop system were updated for the change.
Navigation System
The old wilderness navigation was rather confusing, with arrow buttons pointing left and right where the perspective is first-person. This has been updated with a forward travel arrow, and a turn around button to match the first person perspective.
A mini-map has also been added. It displays the distance between the two settlements on the wilderness path to give a better representation of the player's current location.
New Milestone
KiwiGameStarter 2016, an indie game development competition with funding as prize, has been announced. The submission deadline is on August 15th. Ten Thousand Coins will be entering, but we still have a lot of work to do by then!
