All Update - v0.3.0 Overhaul, New Systems
Happy Holidays Everyone!
Apologies, it's been a long while since my last update. While progress has been slow, it has also been steady, so don't worry, Ten Thousand Coins is moving forward.
Main reason for the recent slow-down: personal busyness...

I currently also have a contract game development job to help with income, hence I had very little time for Ten Thousand Coins since my last update, but study has now ended for this year, meaning more work hours once again for Ten Thousand Coins!
Now onto the updates, a many many changes and updates have been made to TTC:
Trading System - New Method of Currency
The trading system in Ten Thousand Coins has gone through an overhaul after play-testing and re-designing. The old system of buying/selling items with coin clashed too much with using coin as the main form of progression, which is the highest design priority right now with TTC, hence a new trading system has been developed.
The new trading system involves directly trading goods with other merchants or traders, goods for goods. Each good has a coin value to them, therefore trades will need to be similar in value to be successful.
Needed items from traders still work similarly to the old system. If the player offers an item the trader needs, the needed item's value will be much higher than base value.
Varies skills can also be added to this trading system, with the first one "Haggle" already added. Haggle can be used once per trade, and it randomly decreases the NPC's offer value for a better deal in the player's favour.
The new trading system is of course still WIP before it's completely functioning as intended, but it's really coming together quite fast, so more updates to come!
Milestone System - The Ceaseless Chest
Picking up from the last blog entry, the milestone progression system continued to evolve.
To resolve the clash between using coin or saving coin for progression, the trading system was changed so that coin are now only for progression, and will be explained more in detail in the narrative of the game.
The main form of coin progression now is to deposit your goods from your inventory into what is known as a "Ceaseless Chest", an indestructible chest that cannot be lost, provided to you by the Merchants Guild to keep your coin safe. Goods deposited will be transformed in Wealth , which is measured in coins.
The Milestone system works similar to as mentioned before: every set amount of wealth you reach, you will receive a reward. You're goal is to reach a wealth of 10,000 coins. What these rewards are will be revealed in following updates!
Deposited goods are permanently stored (transforming into wealth) and cannot be used for trading, hence you must decide when and how much to deposit. So begs the question: how much goods should you be carrying and how much should be deposited? This ties into our next system...
Wilderness Danger System
Random events, especially enemy encounters, now scales to you "danger level", which is determined by how much goods you are carrying, as well as your overall wealth.
What this basically means is the more valuable goods you carry into the wilderness, the more dangers you will encounter. If you get defeated in the wilderness...
Wilderness Defeat System
Upon defeat (0 life points) in the wilderness, your crew will "black out" and return to your last visited settlement (much like in Pokemon games), however you will lose a random amount of items you are carrying at the same location you were defeated.
You are able to recover your lost items by returning to the location, but you have a time limit. With every passing hour, there'll be less items for you to recover (as wildlife and passersby will loot your dropped goods).
More Updates...
There are much more updates for TTC, but I'll leave the reveals for future updates, so until then, happy new year everyone!
