New Feature and Update - Combat System
The combat system has been in need of an update due to numerous playtesting feedback of it being rather grindy and repetitive. The first part of this update is with how the player attacks the enemy.
The new system now works as follows: the player initiates an attack on an enemy by clicking on it, then a Quick Time Bar appears with a pointer sliding side to side. The player must time their click to get the pointer close to the centre of the bar for maximum damage. Landing the pointer on a red section of the bar counts as a miss.
Here is a quick chart comparing the old to the new method of attacking:
Combat System Update
Old
New
Attack Method
Attack happens immediately
Quick-time bar
Damage Dealt
100% of Attack Stat
50% - 150% of Attack Stat, depending on proximity to centre of the bar
Missing an Attack
Random Chance
Landing on red sections of the bar
Another new feature added to the combat system is the ability to bribe the enemy with items in your inventory, avoiding a fight altogether. This adds a new layer of strategy for deciding whenever you want to risk engaging in combat (and lose wagon condition) or give up something in the short term to play it safe.
Different enemies will also prioritise different kinds of goods (e.g. wild animals want food, bandits want valuables etc).

New Feature - Convoy System
The old weapon system has now been replaced with the new convoy system. Convoys are mercenaries that merchants hire to protect them for a duration of travel. How convoys work:
- Combat - works very similar to the old weapon system, each convoy has an attack stat boost.
- Hiring - convoys are hired using coins in buildings called Taverns, which can found in certain settlements
- Duration - hired convoys will follow their merchant for a limited duration before leaving
